The work of repainting is done, now all the carapax is highlighted.

Lictor, need some other work.

Following some advices online, I'm repainting the lictor's carapax, here some pictures:

The tone is tending to orange, while the highlights are oranges and yellows.
On the edge of the carapay I spread a little of gray and beige, only to break the monotony of black.

Lictor, finally finished.

After something like a month of work, my lictor is finally finished. After painting and repainting, now I'm satisfated of every light and every shadow on my model; every tonality of red is the one I was searching for and every line on the carapax is exactly where I wanted to put it.

Every single part of the lictor is crossed by red stripes, except for tenacles and hands.

Zebrine crimiso texture took lot of time and precision to paint them as I wished, not everytime painting on the irregular surfece of lictor's hide is easy. In the end, after more and more hands of diffetent colors, all the strips tooke the right tone.

Carapax has an orange tending tone, giving to the lictor a faster appearance than a simple red or a dark red.
From above, texture are continuos eve on the head and on the horn.

Initially the model had lot of modification, to appear like a DeathLeaper, like additional spines in the end of scythings talons and blades on the two inferiors elbows. Thoses modifications got broken because I was afraid to ruin the model so I only glued lighltly them. The only one remaining is the horn abouve the head, not present in the basic lictor model.

Hand have no texture, so the only red in them is given by talons.
Here some views of the lictor:

The base is nothing special, only a few detrites placed and painted as urban ground. It's my first try this kind of things, next models will have a more detailed bases.

I think this will become the color of all bases of my army, now composed by grass and sand or by black cinder...

My old works, and my Work-In-Progress (Part 2: Tyranids)

The second branch of my army is composed of Tyranids forces, painted mainly as leviathan (white and purple),
but the trend is taking me to white and black, so the special models, like Zoantrophe and Carnifex have black carapace; agressive models like Ravener or warriors have dark-red or orange armor, and my Lictor (still W.I.P.) is blue-gray and red.

Carnifex, my loveable killing machine, can tank opener and fluffy puppy. The broken claw is not for the sake of realism, but because of an accident during transport...

Carnifex, lot of spines and extended maw gave to this model a scaring appearence and allert the sense of danger of every WH player; in fact, this model is a bait: it takes all the fire from the first turns, leaving others models (more importants) unharmed.
Of course it excell in ramming tanks and crushing things, so all the weight of the model is put forward, giving him a "ready to charge" pose.
Little body but great mind, Zoantrophe is one of my favourite models, for his strategic value and even for the charm that the miniature has:

Black and yellow like a wasp, Zoantrophe is a notable presence on the battlefield, his snarling face and the anilmal like coloration give to him an evil personality.
I like the way it simle... the only thing I regret is that it has no eye, so I can't paint inside them madness...

Ravener, fast, light and really angry. I like it more for the model than for his use in battle, and it has no specific role in my army. The dark red carapace show anger and bloodthirst, and give emphasis to the intense red claws,

My Ravener, with claw of a scarlet red and crimisi carapax.
Detail of carapax.
Only red and white, Ravener is not a complicate creature to paint, but the visual effect is great.

Le grand final, The Lictor (who I use in the place of Death Leaper), I spent a month on it and is not yet finished (pink on the left-upper arm will become red).It is my really best painted and better assembled soldier, capable of tear aparts veichles by itself and reach every tactics spot in the battleground, seeding fear and blood all arround the enemy lines.

This Lictor is still in progress, all the pink parts will become red in his zebra like pattern.
Eyes glow yellow, hiding a dark feral intelligence behind.
Mimetism is an opinion, I preferred a really personal model, sacrificing the chamaleon skin (it was my first project) for a black and red carapax, and a gray skin with crimiso zebrine texture.

My old works, and my Work-In-Progress (Part 1: Tombs Kings)

Here some picture of the works I did before starting the blog:

First of all, Tombs Kings, lead by Khalida Neferher, my army is painted in red and gold, with lot of black and yellow-to-red shadings, but let's see:
Full wiew of my Khalida model, with golden serpents and a yellow (shading in red) cloak.

From behind, the mantle took to me lot of time to paint, but in my opinion the result is really nice.
Next one in the list, Tombs Guards (sorry if some names are wrongs, but I have the rulebook in a foregin language...).

Five of my Tombs Guards with erald.

Detail of the shield, painted to appear old and worn (the silver spot is where the paint went off, my fault...), it only took some washing in bronze mixed to black and an hand of gold repainting.
Last but not least, Ushabti,I have only two of them (they are really expensive) but I spent lot of efforts painting those guys.

Horus's Ushabta, notice the red finiture on the blade and the azure zaphire arround the neck.
Details of head and upper body, I really paid attention at the chest and arms, painted in a simple way so the model remain light  and not overdetailed, showing up the few curated details.

Anubi's Ushabta, I painted nothing of particular on this model, so the scaring jackal face remain one of the firs thing that people see watching him.
Only white, brown and gold, this model is goodlooking in the sand and rock that compose most of Tombs Kings scenics.
